The chair of the Diocesan Emergency Grants Committee, the Rev. Canon Nora Smith, wrote to parishes today with the names of the new committee’s members, and further information about the Grants, which will be funded by a $3 million gift from Trinity Wall Street.
Of the $3 million, Canon Smith wrote, “$350,000 has been dedicated to outreach programs currently supported by Episcopal Charities and the Diocese. The focus will be on expanding the capacity of these programs to address the increased need of those affected by this pandemic. The remaining $2.65 million will be distributed directly to the congregations of the Diocese.”
In addition to Canon Smith, the members of the committee are as follows:
The Rev. Trevor Babb
The Rev. Dr. Anna Pearson
Ms. Hilary Pennington
Ms. Diane Pollard
The Rev. Dr. Alison Quin
The Rev. Hal Roark
Mr. John Talty
Ms. Esslie Hughes, Chief of Finance and Operations for the Diocese, and Ms. Val Stelcen, Executive Assistant to Bishop Dietsche in Region Two, will consult with the Committee.
“The Committee met via Zoom on Tuesday afternoon,” Smith wrote, “and formed two working groups to begin developing the application and process, and to work on communications. Our goal is to have applications available online by next week, with a deadline of May 11, 2020, for application submissions.
“We want the process be simple, fair, and equitable. We will work expeditiously, but thoughtfully, and we will communicate frequently as the application and distribution process moves forward, and as any questions or challenges arise.”
